Continuing with their agitation against actor-comedian Kapil Sharma for portrayal of their profession in a poor light, nurses in Punjab have decided to launch a statewide protest against him on June 7.
“On directions of the All-India Nursing Federation, we have decided to launch a statewide protest against Kapil Sharma. On June 7, nurses across Punjab will be holding protests in their respective hospitals,” said Punjab Nursing Association general secretary Raj Bedi.
Bedi said the association is not satisfied with the reply received from the television channel. “The harm has been done to our reputation. This is no way of dealing with the issue,” she said.
In a letter addressed to the Trained Nurses’ Association of India, Sony TV had said the show was for entertainment purpose and it had no intentions to hurt anyone. However, nurses from Amritsar, Kapil’s birthplace, who have registered a complaint at a police station alleging that the show has demeaned their profession by objectifying them, did not accept the channel’s reasoning.
