Expressing concern over safety in hostels, Mata Kaushalya College of Nursing's girl students and their parents staged a protest against the college management, on Friday.

A few days ago, a man allegedly entered the college's girls hostel. However, the college apparently took no action against the intruder.

The Istri Jagriti Manch and other unions including Medical Practitioners' Association, Democratic Lawyers' Association and Technical Services' Union accompanied the students, and condemned the management, at the college premises.

Istri Jagriti Manch general sectary Amandeep Kaur Deol called for serious intervention by the college as safety and security of girls were at stake.

"This is not the first time that such an incident has happened. Earlier too, miscreants used to enter and knock the doors of girls' rooms in the hostel. The miscreants were even caught smoking cigarettes in the bathrooms, but the college authorities have failed to react.
