The division No. 3 police have registered a case of murder against his alleged lover Micky and her two maternal uncles, following a complaint by Sardara Peter, mother of the deceased. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.

The incident occurred at around 3am when Peter was talking to Micky on the phone in a street outside his home.

According to Sardara Peter, they came to know about the incident when they heard the screams of Sandeep. They rushed towards the streets and saw Sandeep lying in a pool of blood.
Later, a rickshaw-puller told them he had seen two motorcycle-borne attacking him.

They rushed him to the CMC hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10.30am.
Inspector Maninder Bedi, SHO of the division No. 3 police station, said the deceased had an affair with a girl of Janta Nagar area for the past eight years.

According to the statement of the family members of the deceased, the girl belonged to a Sikh family and the youth belonged to a Christian family, therefore the girl's parents opposed to their relationship.

The police have learnt from the call details of the mobile phone of the deceased that at the time of the attack, Sandeep was talking to his Micky on the phone for one-and-a-half hours.

The deceased's mother suspected the involvement of the girl in the homicide. She alleged that the girl had asked Sandeep to come outside to talk to her on the phone, where her maternal uncles were already present.

Sandeep's father died a few years ago and his mother is staff nurse at the CMC hospital. He went to the UK barely a year ago on a study visa.
