Sharing his side of the story after cancelling a press conference on Sunday fearing arrest, suspended Youth Akali Dal (YAD) leader Navdeep Singh Goldy posted a video on Facebook on Monday.
Goldy was suspended after a brawl with Amritsar senior deputy mayor Avtar Singh Truckanwala during a meeting called by the deputy commissioner on Thursday. After a case was registered against him, Goldy had gone underground.
In the video uploaded on Facebook, Goldy rubbished the allegations levelled against him by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders present at the meeting. He said the leaders got an FIR registered against him and got him suspended from the party by “misguiding” the police and the party high command.
Here’s the video:
Accusing the SAD leaders of hatching the conspiracy to deny him party ticket in the assembly elections, Goldy said Truckanwala was the one to start using vulgar language, and also tried to manhandle him in presence of deputy commissioner Varun Roojam and municipal commissioner Sonali Giri. “When both officers left the meeting, Truckanwala and I had a scuffle, during which his turban fell, although I didn’t touch it. I left the venue in haste, and my mobile phone was left behind. As all relevant contact numbers were in the phone, I could not present my side of the story to the police, media and party high command,” he said.
