Fatehgarh Sahib

A case was registered against Netar Singh of Randhawa village, near Phillaur here, for cheating two youths from Fatehgarh Sahib of rs 4.5 lakh on the pretext of sending them to Canada.

On May 19, Zora Singh of Lohar Majra village, complained to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan that Netar Singh neither returned rs 4.5 lakh nor sent his son and nephew abroad as promised.

In his complaint he stated that he paid Netar rs 5 lakh to send his son Jasharveer Singh and nephew Jasleen to Canada. He also handed over the passports. But, the accused did not send them abroad. He returned rs 50,000 and promised to return the remaining sum soon.
But, he started making excuses later and did not return it.

Investigating officer sub-inspector Gurbachan Singh said the case had been handed over to the economic offences wing of the police. Netar Singh was found guilty and a case was registered against the accused. He said police was out to nab the accused.
