Atleast one person died, while two others were injured in an incident of firing in village Pandori Waraich that occurred due to a dispute related to the panchayat polls. The deceased has been identified as Kulwant Singh, while the injured have been identified as Manohar Lal and Sukhwinder Singh, all residents of Pandori Waraich.
The Amritsar Rural Police have booked two persons identified as Sonu and Baba Nalkian Wala, both residents of village Pandori Waraich, under sections 302, 307, 34 IPC, 25, 27, 54, 59 Arms Act at Kambo Police Station, on the complaint of Baljit Singh, a son of the deceased. However, no arrests have yet been made.
Stating that both the deceased and the accused belonged to the SAD, sources attributed the incident to a dispute related to the panchayat polls. The complainant has alleged that he and his family were having a meal at the terrace of their house when they heard of a fall out in the village. He added that he and his father rushed to the spot where the accused started firing on them with their 12 bore rifle injuring his father and two others.
He further said that his father later succumbed to bullet injuries at the hospital. "The complainant has alleged that the accused were miffed as he and his family had polled votes in favour of another party in the panchayat polls. Both the deceased and the accused belong to the SAD," said sub inspector Yadvinder Singh, SHO, Kambo Police Station. He added that efforts are being made to arrest the accused.
