One held for stealing cashbox from gurdwara in Patiala
One person was arrested for allegedly stealing a cashbox from a gurdwara in Ahmedgarh in Sangrur on Wednesday evening.
One person was arrested for allegedly stealing a cashbox from a gurdwara in Ahmedgarh in Sangrur on Wednesday evening.
The accused has been identified as Govinda, a resident of Ahmedgarh Mandi.
The investigating officer Shivram said that following a tip-off, he followed the accused, who was heading towards the highway on a stolen cycle, and nabbed him.
A cashbox containing a sum of Rs 2,110, iron rods, screwdrivers and other instruments were recovered from his possession. A television set was also found in his possession.
Shivram said that the television set was stolen from a nearby village and a complaint regarding this was registered a few months ago. He said a few other cases of theft had been also registered against Govinda.
A case under Sections 379 (punishment for theft) and 411 (retaining stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused. The accused was produced in the court and sent to one day remand, added the police.
