One held with illegal weapon, stolen cars in Jalandhar

The Kartarpur police on Saturday arrested a proclaimed offender Har Krishan Singh alias Monu of Dhapai village in Kapurthala and recovered stolen cars, intoxicant powder and an illegal weapon from his possession.

Police said a naka was put up near the drain on Bholath road in Kartarpur following a tipoff by assistant sub-inspector Sukhwinder Singh and his team. The ASI and his team stopped an Alto car (PB09-R-9820) which was being driven by Monu, who has allegedly been involved in contract killing cases.

“During checking, the police found 110gm intoxicant powder, a .32 bore illegal pistol and two live cartridges,” the police said.

Later, it was found that the car was also stolen.

The cops also recovered another stolen car (JK02-BJ-1317) and pulsar bike. The police said that he would be produced in the local courts to seek his custody for interrogating him. A case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, NDPS and Arms Act has been registered against him at Kartarpur police station.
