One killed in road accident, seven injured

One person was killed and seven others injured in a road accident near Marhi on the Manali-Leh highway on Sunday.

The driver lost control of his vehicle which overturned, leading to his death on the spot. Meanwhile seven people on the roadside were injured and rushed to a local hospital at Manali.

After overturning, the vehile hit another car with four passengers on board, however, no one was injured.

The deceased was identified as Major Singh, a native of Punjab, while those injured include Manpreet Singh, 31, Manvinder ,28, Narender Kaur ,50, Gaganjeet ,23, Parminder Kaur ,24, Harsh Preet Singh ,5, and Ridham Jyot a one-year-old of a family native of Ludhiana.

Manali deputy superintendent of police Puneet Raghu confirmed the accident saying that all injured were stable with minor injuries.

The police registered a case under the Motor Vehicles Act pending further investigation.
