Patiala Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member of Parliament Dr Dharamvira Gandhi has said the party suffered a lot due to entry of some opportunistic people in it.

While talking to mediapersons at Shergill Farm in Behrampur Zimidara village near here on Sunday, Dr Gandhi said AAP was born out of movement of Anna Hazare, but had lost organisational structure, and some opportunistic persons of the movement had entered the party, which had harmed it.

He said the party had committed mistake in Delhi when Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of chief minister, adding that Kejriwal should also not have contested the Lok Sabha elections.

He said instead of contesting the elections he should have campaigned for party candidates in the country. Had he campaigned in Punjab for few more days, the party would have won at least eight Lok Sabha seats in the state, Dr Gandhi said.

He said if the assembly elections were held in Delhi, AAP would emerge victorious, adding that BJP was running away from the elections.

He said organisational structure of the party in Punjab would be formed within next six months.

The AAP leader said the party would bring out its manifesto regarding the issues of Punjab within next six months, adding that they would contact the people at the village level. Earlier, Dr Gandhi visited his native village Pachrandey in Rupnagar district, where he was honoured by the villagers.
