Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, organised its first convocation on Thursday. A total of 66 students of BA LLB and LLB (Batch-2013) of University Institute of Laws (UIL) and 43 students of MBA (since inception) from University Business School (UBS), were conferred their degrees.
Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Justice Jaspal Singh was the chief guest, while Panjab University vice-chancellor Arun K Grover presided over the function.
Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu graced the function as a special guest. Professor Navdeep Goyal, DSW Panjab University, Naresh Gaur, Dinesh Kumar, Janmeet Singh and Surender Singh Sangha fellow Panjab University, Chandigarh, were also present on the occasion.
Regional centre director Hardiljit Singh Gosal delivered the annual reports of UIL and UBS. Gosal highlighted that in the recent past, five students of UIL had been selected as judges. He added that UBS, Ludhiana, achieved nearly full placements this year.
Meanwhile, Grover in his address stressed on further developing the regional centre as research centre, in collaboration with the government colleges here.
During the convocation, Bittu had announced `10 lakh for the regional centre to come up with a proper canteen. Presently, the centre has a temporary canteen.
