Over 500 students to display models at INSPIRE Awards

To explore the hidden talent and inculcate the interest in mathematics and engineering among students, the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Award will be organised from July 21 to July 26 in Ludhiana, where over 500 students of Classes 6-10 from different schools of the district will showcase models prepared by them.

A student from each of the government school, governmentaided school and the CBSE affiliated school from the district will attend the seminar.

Each of the student will get Rs 5,000 to prepare a model and for his/her transportation expenses.
Talking to HT, Varinder Kaur, district science supervisor said, “About 514 students from different government schools, aided schools and CBSE affiliated schools will attend the seminar. Rs 5,000 will be transferred online to the respective school, which the school will further be given to the participating student.”

However, he added that the authorities concerned were yet to take a decision about the venue of the event. A teacher from each school will also accompany the student who will take part in the event.

The physically-impaired children and those coming from the far-flung areas can also take their parents along with them, the expense for which will be borne by the government.

Besides, the school heads have been directed that no participants should use readymade model projects or those purchased from the market.

The teacher accompanying the student will guide him/her to prepare the best model based on students own skills.


The objective of the INSPIRE Award is to communicate the excitement of creative pursuit of science to students and to attract their talent in science and engineering.

The award has been helpful in building a pool of human resources for escalating and expanding the science and technology system.
