Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday instructed officials to ensure eight-hour uninterrupted power supply to the farmers during the paddy season.
Presiding over a meeting, Sukhbir directed officials to appoint nodal officers at block levels under the supervision of deputy commissioners to ensure regular power supply to the farmers. He said nodal officers would submit daily reports after June 15 about the duration of unannounced power cuts along with the the areas in which the cuts were imposed.
He said the staff of 1905 grievances redressal cell of the deputy chief minister would also take feedback from the farmers during the paddy season.
He warned officials of strict action if power cuts were imposed without a valid justification.
