Khurshid Barlas, chief executive officer, Pakistan World Trade and Expo Centre on Wednesday said that Pakistan welcomed and demanded increase in business investment from India. He said this while addressing mediapersons on the five-day 'Indo-Pak Expo 2014' that will commence from Thursday.

Stating that there is a need to change the way people of two countries think of each other, he said students should be taught positive things about the relationship of the two sides at primary level.

Sukhdev Raj, member of managing committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said Indian businessmen want to export hand tools and auto parts to Pakistan.

Stating that the second edition of Indo-Pak International Trade Expo will start at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Hall from March 6, Dalip Sharma, director, PHDCCI, said this would be the 13th such expo in the series of trade fairs being organised by the chamber.

Sharma added that the expo will showcase exhibits from Pakistani, including onyx marble, textiles, dry fruits from Kabul, Kashmiri carpets, Jaipur jewellery, home appliances, wellness and healthcare products, high-end leather bags and crockery, quilts, besides wrought iron furniture and artificial flowers among others.

"The very objective of organising such an expo is to engage masses in people-to-people dialogue leading to peace and harmony," said Sharma, adding that the recent back-to-back trade delegations would usher in a new era of mutual buoyancy to expand their areas of mutual cooperation.

Khurshid Barlas said bilateral trade is perhaps the only such thing, which can pave way to a peaceful and harmonious co-existence of the allies.
