The Border Security Force troops shot down a Pakistani national who had sneaked into the Indian territory on the International Border in Pathankot early on Monday morning.
The intruder was spotted by troops of the 132 Battalion around five metres from the fence near the Paharipur border outpost in Bamyal sector. After he failed to pay heed to repeated warnings, he was shot down, said BSF officials.
The intruder, who looked to be in his mid-20s, was wearing a grey kurta and trousers. Pakistani currency — Rs 500 note and Rs 5 coin — was recovered from his wallet, said officials.
The Bamyal sector is already on high alert, as Pakistani terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase in January last year and Dinanagar police station a few months before that are suspected to have entered the India territory from here.
