Panchayat polls: Fatehgarh Sahib divided into 60 clusters

The district has been divided into 60 clusters for the panchayat elections. For conducting the polls in 433 panchyats, 475 booths have been set up and 60 returning officers and the same number of assistant returning officers have been deputed.

Respective SDMs will be in-charge of their block and assistant commissioner (general) will be in-charge of Khera block. The additional deputy commissioner will be nodal officer for the elections.

Fatehgarh Sahib deputy commissioner-cum-district electoral officer Arun Sekhri said 8,054 candidates have filed nomination papers for the posts of sarpanch and panch in the district.

While giving details, the DC said 1,877 have people filed their papers for the posts of sarpanches and 6,177 for panches' post.

The DC said scrutiny of the papers will be done on June 24 and nominations may be withdrawn till June 25. Polling will be held on July 3 from 8 am to 4 pm and election process will be completed on July 4.
