Panel set up to speed up work on water schemes in Nahan: ZP chief

The state government has constituted a committee to speed up the completion of pending drinking water schemes in the district and members of the committee were likely to visit the district soon to assess the situation.


This was disclosed by chairperson of the zila parishad (ZP) Dayal Payari at the quarterly meeting of the parishad held here on Tuesday. The chairperson warned the officers who were not attending the meetings of the parishad and impressed upon them to understand the importance of the organisation.

The chairperson also informed the house that action had been initiated against the contractors of the IPH department who had failed to complete the work of drinking water schemes in the stipulated period.

The chairperson also informed the house that `95 crore was being spent on development works in 17 wards across the district, out of which `39 crore had already been spent on developmental activities.

She asked the departments concerned to take up seriously the issues raised by members of the parishad.

She also directed the IPH department to immediately take action over the scarcity of drinking water in Jahar village of the Pachhad block.

Vice-chairman Jagiri Ram raised the problem of erratic power and voltage fluctuation of residents of Muglowala colony in Satuan and Rampur and Dalhiwala villages of Kaulawala Bhoond.

SDM Jyoti Rana and representatives of all departments concerned were also present during the meeting.
