Flagged off with much fanfare by Congress MP Vijay Inder Singla ahead of the lok sabha elections, the Panj Takht train was cancelled on Friday due to lack of bookings by the passengers.
This was the second train scheduled to reach Dhuri junction at 5 pm at the Dhuri railway station. But only 40 seats were reserved against the capacity of 490 seats.
“I was shocked, when I reached the station and came to know that the train has been cancelled, without prior information” said Balvinder Singh of Longowal adding, “At least, they could inform us that the train has been cancelled. It could save our time or money.
I along with my wife and two children had come at the railway station early in the morning after preparing meal for five days “
Similarly, another passenger Pritam Singh of Badbar village of Barnal district, said: “It is mockery of the people who want go on a religious journey. I booked my ticket seven days ago. If they were not getting bookings they could at least inform us.”
