Panjab University syndicate approves Rs 253-cr deficit budget

Panjab University (PU) syndicate has approved the revised non-plan budget proposal from board of finance (BoF) for the 2016-17. The revised budget estimate has envisaged expenditure of Rs 502.11 crore and income of Rs 249.51 crore. The figures will now be considered by the PU senate.

Panjab University (PU) syndicate has approved the revised non-plan budget proposal from board of finance (BoF) for the 2016-17. The revised budget estimate has envisaged expenditure of Rs 502.11 crore and income of Rs 249.51 crore. The figures will now be considered by the PU senate.

The Syndicate also approved the enhancement in amount of subsidy for youth/heritage festivals. The facilities for eight chairs were also approved.

The minutes of the budget estimate committee were also approved, as per which Rs 81.67 lakh will be provided for construction/extension of third floor in existing girls hostel at regional centre, Ludhiana; Rs 33 lakh for installation of bio-gas plant at boys hostel number 3, PU campus; Rs 20 lakh for barbed wire on the compound wall from gate number 1 to pharmacy department in PU campus; Rs 23 lakh for construction of toilets/washrooms for transgenders on the PU campus; Rs 25 lakh for upgrade of lease line connectivity from 20 mbps to

100 mbps at PU Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Hoshairpur; Rs 14 lakh for IT infrastructure at AC Joshi Library and Rs 338.8 lakh for completion of construction of new houses in PU south campus.

The proposal from director department of education (colleges), Punjab government, to open two new PU constituent college at Ferozepur and Dharamkot (Moga) was also approved.
