The Adampur police on Friday arrested the parents and two brothers of a woman after she alleged that they set her on fire on Thursday late night.

Kiran, the victim, was fighting for her life at the Jalandhar Civil Hospital with 90% burn injuries.

A resident of Ludhiana, Kiran had gone to her parents in Kathar village of Adampur on Thursday night to get back the money her husband had given them.

Kiran exchanged heated arguments with the family members after which she allegedly was set on fire after pouring petrol on her in presence of her husband and her three daughters.

One of her daughters received minor burn injuries while trying to save her mother.

Kiran was rushed to a nearby hospital and then referred to the civil hospital where she recorded her statement before a magistrate alleging that her parents and brothers had set her on fire.

Adampur station house officer Paramjeet Singh said Kiran had received 90% burns and her condition is said to be serious.

He said that the police had arrested all the four accused — her father Vidya Sagar, mother Asha Rani and brothers Dinesh and Vipin after registering a case under section 307 against them.

The SHO said all were produced in the court of civil judge junior division Arun Gupta who sent them to judicial custody.
