Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal would attend the swearing-in-ceremony of Sarbananda Sonawal as the new chief minister of Assam scheduled in Guwahati for May 24.

Disclosing this in Chandigarh on Sunday, a spokesperson of the chief minister’s office said that BJP president Amit Shah, in a letter to Badal, has extended an invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Sonawal. The office has accepted the invite from BJP, he added.

The chief minister, accompanied by SAD president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Rajya Sabha member Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, would attend the oath taking ceremony, he said.
