With deputy leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha and Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh resigning as Amritsar MP, Rajya Sabha member Partap Singh Bajwa on Thursday said he will “lead the fight” for the rights of Punjab and its people during the winter session of Parliament starting on November 16.

Bajwa, who had succeded Amarinder as state party chief and was later ousted by him, has been asserting himself of late and the two leaders have been locking horns over election-related issues.

“The SC ruling against Punjab on SYL issue has come as a major setback to people of Punjab. Our MLAs have resigned in protest. Being an MP, I will continue to fight for justice for Punjab as interests of Punjab and its people are of utmost importance to me,” Bajwa said in a statement. HTC
