Pathankot attack: Ex-SP Salwinder Singh’s name not among accused

Former SP Salwinder Singh’s name doesn’t appear in the list of accused in the challan filed by the NIA in a SAS Nagar court here on Monday. In the challan, the NIA said that after abandoning the vehicle of Ikagar Singh at Kolian Morh, the terrorists hid in a nearby sugarcane fields and waited for a vehicle to come. They then hijacked a Mahindra XUV vehicle of Salwinder Singh and drove towards the Air Force Station, Pathankot.

Former SP Salwinder Singh’s name doesn’t appear in the list of accused in the challan filed by the NIA in a SAS Nagar court here on Monday. In the challan, the NIA said that after abandoning the vehicle of Ikagar Singh at Kolian Morh, the terrorists hid in a nearby sugarcane fields and waited for a vehicle to come. They then hijacked a Mahindra XUV vehicle of Salwinder Singh and drove towards the Air Force Station, Pathankot.

The NIA said the accused snatched the mobile phones of the victims, and used them to communicate with their handlers in Pakistan . The terrorists blindfolded and dumped Salwinder Singh and his cook Madan Gopal at an isolated place in a forest area near Gulpur Simli village of Pathankot district .

However, they took the third occupant, Rajesh Verma, along with them. Salwinder and Gopal reached Gulpur Simli village on foot. The terrorists, later learned from Rajesh Verma that Salwinder was a police officer. The terrorists informed their handler who directed them to go back and look for him. Since Salwinder and Gopal had already left the spot, the terrorists resumed their journey to the Air Force Station.

On the way, the terrorists slit the throat of Verma and dumped him on roadside, but he survived.
