A seven-day winter film festival ended on Wednesday at Prabal Pramanik Art Gallery at Bhamlada village near here.
Film directors from West Bengal, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh brought their works to the event organised by devansthkala (paper-cutting) artist Prabal Pramanik and software professional Arup Chandra. Local people, including schoolchildren, enjoyed watching these films on art and artistes.
West Bengal Film Division creation "Dreams of Rabindranath Tagore", East Zone Cultural Centre film "Murals of Orissa", and a Nitish-Mokherjee-directed documentary on Oscar Award winner film director Satyajit Ray were highlights of the event. Barnomy Johar Dass, president of Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, was present.
Pramanik's own motion pictures on paper cutting and his live performances amazed the students. "The festival will return in summer," said Prabal Pramanik, adding: "The students have shown interest in the paper-cutting and other arts; and the directors who came to the festival want to make documentaries on Punjab's villages."
