A large number of police personnel were deployed in the village to control the situation. The police have registered a case against 21 persons, including four women.

Village's newly elected sarpanch Ramandeep Kaur's husband Bikramjit Singh told mediapersons on Friday that his wife defeated Rajwant Kaur in the panchayat elections and was elected the village sarpanch.

His wife's victory did not go down well with Kaur and her supporters, following which over 20 persons attacked them.

When they raised the alarm, the other group fled the spot.

Amandeep Singh, Balkar Singh, Amaninder Singh and Maghwar Singh were seriously injured and admitted to the local civil hospital.

According to Sirhind SHO, a case was registered against 21 people under Sections 323, 341, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
