In an effort to promote the martial art of Gatka at an international level, the Asian Gatka Federation (AGF) on Sunday decided to organise the first Asian Gatka Cup in February 2015 at Malaysia.

Gatka Federation of India president Harcharan Singh Bhullar made the announcement at the valedictory function of the three-day national Gatka refresher course held at the Punjabi University here.

Earlier, the Cup was to be hosted at Dubai. But, due to technical constraints, the event will be organised at Malaysia, he said.

"Dates will be announced shortly after a meeting with the Malaysian Gatka Federation," he said.

He also announced that the second National Gatka Championship will be organised at Mastuana Sahib (Sangrur) this November.

The federation's general secretary Hartjeet Singh Grewal, joint secretary Deep Singh and others also spoke on the occasion.
