Shiromani Akali Dal general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra has said that by nullifying the appointments made by state Congress chief, the Congress high command has punctured Partap Singh Bajwa's balloon even before it could take off. The senior SAD leader was in Patiala on Friday.

“Quashing of appointments by Bajwa shows that Bajwa was like a commander, who doesn't enjoy powers to even choose his army,” Chandumajra said. The SAD spokesman said that instead of 'attacking' SAD-BJP government, the state Congress chief should try to strengthen his position in his own party.

Chandumajra said the Congress high command always treated its leaders from Punjab as puppets and clipped their wings before they could start flying.

The former MP also criticised union minister of state for external affairs Preneet Kaur for not raking up Patiala-centric issues in the Parliament. “I challenge the Congress MP for a debate on her achievements during her tenure. She has miserably failed to provide respite to the people she represents,” he said.

Rajiv-Longowal accord: Badal accuses Congress of betrayal

The statelevel function to mark the 29th death anniversary of Sant Harchand Singh Longowal here on Wednesday proved a platform for the SAD-BJP combine to criticise the Congress, as all speakers, including chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, accused the Congress of playing tricks to ‘divide’ and ‘suppress’ Sikhs.
