The cancellation of Arvind Kejriwal's Patiala visit has apparently given a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party's local unit.

It may dent the momentum of AAP candidate Dr Dharamvira Gandhi in the Patiala parliamentary constituency.

Kejriwal reached Amritsar on Wednesday evening. He is likely to visit Ludhiana and Sangrur for seeking votes for party candidates HS Phoolka and Bhagwant Mann, respectively, on Saturday.

With no star campaigners, AAP is banking on whirlwind trip of Kejriwal to garner support for the party in Punjab.

As per Kejriwal's earlier schedule, he was to address rallies in Rajpura, Samana and Patiala.

Convener of the state campaign committee Sumel Singh Sidhu said there had been confusion following change in Kejriwal's schedule.

"We are trying to cover maximum constituencies during his three days visit. However, senior leaders from other states, including Kumar Vishwas and Gul Panag is also expected to campaign in Punjab," he said.

Meanwhile, AAP candidate from Patiala Dr Dharamvira Gandhi said: "We have been informed about the cancellation of Kejriwal's visit and AAP's Punjab unit has another programme in which Yogendra Yadav is expected to come and campaign for the whole day in Patiala in the coming days," he said.
