Paramjit Singh Kainth, president of the sabha, said the Scheduled Castes community had been upset ever since Ramdev remarked that Rahul Gandhi, vice president of the Congress, had been going around to Dalit areas for "honeymoon and picnic".

The sabha strongly condemned the remark and considered it an insult to the Dalit community.

"Even the clarification given by Ramdev that what he meant was 'political honeymoon' is also misleading. That expression does not apply to the situation. Ramdev is trying to be oversmart to wriggle out of a tight spot," said Kainth.

He added that silence of Rahul Gandhi had been suspicious as he had neither given a single statement nor condemned the remark.

"Though Rahul usually make big speeches about the Dalits in his rallies but the silence on the part of Congress is intriguing and reflects it non-seriousness regarding the Dalit community," added Kainth.
