Members of the District Bar Association Patiala protested against the Punjab government's decisions regarding their chambers, on Friday.

Brijinder Singh Sodhi, lawyer and human rights activist, said the government decided to cancel allotment of chamber to lawyers who failed to deposit license fee, besides directing two lawyers to share a chamber.

Saying that the government had adopted anti-advocate decisions which threatened the freedom of lawyers across the state, he added that the state had brought allotment of chambers under the definition of rent which was illegal.

"We have invested lakh of rupees for the allotment of the chambers and the government's decision is totally unacceptable," he said.
