Expressing concern over poll rigging, use of malpractices ahead of elections and presence of outsiders, both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have complained to the returning officer and asked him to look into the matter immediately.

The Congress has complained to returning officer Gurpal Singh Chahal about the presence of outsiders in the constituency which may disturb the election process.

On the other hand, AAP leaders have handed over two videos in which people are seen standing in queues and collecting ration. The leaders demanded the authorities concerned immediately take action against the erring party. The videos however were not clear about which party was allegedly distributing ration.

In her complaint, Congress candidate Preneet Kaur demanded that the district administration ensure outsiders leave the city by polling day.

“Categorically naming Youth Akali Dal leader Harmit Singh Pathanmajra, the Congress raised eyebrows at his presence despite the order of the election commission to bar entry of outsiders, 48 hours before elections,” the party said in its complaint. Returning officer Gurpal Singh Chahal said the authorities had gone through both the complaints and a flying squad had been sent to verify the complaints of AAP leaders.
