Creche for kids of women prisoners inaugurated

A creche for children of women prisoners has been inaugurated at the district jail here by Balbir Singh,district and sessions judge and SP Singh Oberoi, managing trustee of the Sarbat da Bhlla Charitable Trust.


This is the third such crèche built by the charitable trust. Speaking on the occasion  SP Singh Oberoi said the two similar crèches were already working at the central jails of Patiala and Ludhiana.

 "Three more crèches would be opened soon in the jails of Amritsar, Pathankot and Faridkot", said Oberoi. Two crèches would be working soon in the jails of Ambala and Sirsa in Haryana for the women prisoners, he added.

Oberoi said the trust had taken the responsibility of all those children, whose mothers were in jail for various crimes, upto higher education. He said that upto the age of six years, children spent time at crèche. After the age of six, they will start their studies in various schools and all the expenses incurred on them would be borne by the trust, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu extended all help to the Sarbat Da Bhlla Charitable Trust for the social service.
