FM to hoist flag in Sangrur

All preparations have been completed for the Republic Day function to be organized in the War Heroes Stadium in the city where Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa will unfurl the national flag on Sunday.

Dhindsa will also pay tributes to martyrs at the Shaheedi Smark at the stadium.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Sangrur deputy commissioner Indu Malhotra said that all preparations have been completed and the function will start at 9.30 am on Sunday.

Two groups of Punjab Police led by parade commander training DSP Akashdeep Aulakh, one group of the Home Guards, four groups of NCC cadets, one group of girl guides and Akal Akademi Cheema Band group will participate in the parade. Besides, Amaninder Singh Sahota and Simarjit Kaur will present a bike stunt show on the occasion.

Students from 18 schools of the district will present PT and Tipari show, giddha and bhangra. The function will be concluded with the national anthem.
 
According to Sangrur SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu, heavy security deployment has already been made for the smooth conduct of the function.

5-year-old abducted during school hours

A five-year-old boy was abducted from in Sheron village of Sunam sub-division on Friday. The boy identified as Harvinder Singh was a Class-1 student at the Government Primary School was kidnapped by two motorcyclists when he came out of the school premises during break.
