While the SAD and the Congress are going all out to woo voters, problems continue to brew for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as convener and senior leader Arvind Kejriwal cut short his trip to canvass in for Patiala and Talwandi Sabo candidates, due to health reasons.

Senior leaders of both the SAD and Congress have been camping in the city to canvass for their party's candidates- Bhagwan Dass Juneja and Preneet Kaur, respectively.

Kejriwal, who was earlier scheduled to visit Patiala on August 16 and 18, will now hold a road here on August 17, after which he will go to Talwandi Sabo on August 18.

The AAP campaign, which has so far been without the enthusiasm seen during the recent Lok Sabha election when the party's Dr Dharamvira Gandhi secured a convincing win, was expected to get a major boost from Kejriwal's long-anticipated visit.

However, as per available schedule, Kejriwal will hold only a road show and will not address gatherings due to health constraints.

Other star campaigners like Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann and senior leaders Yogendra Yadav, Sanjay Singh and HS Phoolka campaigned only for a day each. That too failed to significantly improve party candidate Harjit Singh Adalatiwala's campaign.

Meanwhile, Congress' Captain Amarinder Singh along with his team of 35 incumbent and former MLAs have been canvassing for Preneet Kaur vigorously since August 8.

Likewise, the SAD-BJP alliance has deputed their senior ministers in Patiala. In addition, chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal are scheduled to address several rallies in Patiala till August 19.

Furthermore, fissures within the local unit of AAP are evident as applicants for the Patiala seat in the Lok Sabha polls Dr Balbir Singh and Kundan Gogia were missing in action, while AAP's volunteers and workers have failed to come out in support of the party.

Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi said, "Kejriwal is not keeping well and has been advised bed rest. In spite of that, he is coming on Sunday to boost the party's campaign in Patiala. However, his Talwandi Sabo schedule is yet to be finalised," he said.
