After complaints reached the Congress high command that Amritsar MP and former chief minister Amarinder Singh had deliberately avoided including pictures of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi in the campaign hoardings, Aamrinder’s camp on Thursday put up new hoardings with photos of both senior leaders along with former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Senior Congress leaders including Congress MLA Brahm Mohindra had raised the issue with the party high command.

Congress leaders had accused that Amarinder was using the Patiala bypoll to build his personal image and ignored the senior leadership.

All hoardings seen during the campaign had pictures of Amarinder and his wife and Congress candidate from Patiala Urban Preneet Kaur.

Former National Student Union of India state president and Youth Congress leader Harpal Singh Pradhan had opposed Captain Amarinder over this move and put up hoardings with pictures of Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and other Congress leaders. He also complained to the high command about the issue.

Even AICC secretary Harish Choudhary pointed out the issue to the Amarinder camp during his visit to the city.
Sensing that trouble was brewing, Amarinder’s team dotted the city with fresh hoarding and banners, though election campaigning officially concluded on August 19.
