Man dies in road mishap

One person died and another was seriously injured when their motorcycle was hit by a bus near Patarsi village on Saturday.


The victims, identified as Padoya village residents Vijay Kumar, and his sister Beena, were travelling on a motorcycle when a Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus hit them. They were taken to the Rajpura civil hospital, where Kumar succumbed to his injuries, while Beena remained in a critical state.

No injuries were reported by the bus passengers.

The Badali Aala Singh police have registered a case against the bus driver, identified as Singhpura mohalla resident Baljinder Singh, on the statement of the victims' brother Sandeep Kumar.

"The accident occurred due to the bus driver's negligence," a police spokesman said, adding that efforts were on to nab him.
