Three men at Sandaur village near here on Friday attacked a married couple with wooden sticks and later fired gunshots at the husband.

Ramzan Mohammad was hit by one of the bullets fired upon him and is under treatment at a hospital. It has been alleged that Mohammad had gone to the shop of one of the accused, Harvinder Singh, to discuss about some money he owed to him.

Following an argument, Harvinder and his accomplices, identified as Jaswinder Singh, Harvinder Singh and an unidentified person, allegedly attacked the couple. A while later, Harvinder allegedly took out a revolver and fired two gun shots, one of which hit Ramzan on the right side of chest.

The accused are yet to be arrested. "We have begun investigations. Raids are being carried out to arrest the accused," a police official said.
