One year after taking charge, the municipal corporation house has failed to initiate re-carpeting or relaying of roads, what to speak of new road construction.

A random survey of the city witnessed poorly maintained roads in Tripari area, model town, Pratap Nagar, TB hospital road, Manshahia colony, outside the bus stand and in its peripheral areas, Guru Nanak Nagar and several other areas.

A broken stretch of two kms from Badugar colony to Khalsa college and Government Medical college and Hospital carries big potholes making it difficult for commuters to ply vehicles on the roads. The stretch has many educational and health institutions and is one of the busiest roads during the day.

A resident of Khalsa college, Hardev Singh said, the road has been in a deplorable state past one year and the civic body has  failed to take a note of it. He said, "It is surprising that even the local councillor has failed to take up the matter to its senior authorities."

Meanwhile, mayor Amarinder Bajaj could not be contacted despite several attempts.
