Facing severe problem of sewerage blockade, locals brought their complaints to the municipal corporation office at a sangat darshan programme here on Tuesday.

Of the total 14 complaints, nine related to sewerage problems.

Addressing the complaints, MC commissioner Parminder Singh Gill directed officials of the sewerage department to take note of the problems of complainants and sort out these at the earliest.

The complainants told the commissioner that their repeated requests to the authorities to address their problems had fallen on deaf ears.

Gill said the sewerage cleanliness would remain the top priority in the coming days as the authorities concerned had been directed to come up with plans to ensure no blockade of sewer lines, which had become a cause of worry for most residents.

The commissioner said a complaint about a residential map had been addressed on the spot.

He also sought a detailed report from the engineering department regarding a complaint on the illegal construction across the city.

He said that as per instructions of the local bodies department, the sangat darshan programme would be held on second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
