Three days after the arrest of rape accused in Malerkotla on December 28, his mother levelled allegations against the girl and her family for trapping and slapping false case against his son.
The police have arrested accused Mohammad Sayed, who booked on the charges of raping 18-year-old girl around three months ago from local Ludhiana bypass bus stop on December 28 three days ago. The police had only managed to arrest Sayed after rape victim along with her family threatened to stage protest against in action and favourable attitude of police towards accused.
Sayed's mother Rashida and uncle Mohammad Farooq on Monday met SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar and urged him to look into the matter.
His mother alleged, "With only motive to grab property of my only son, girl along with her parents slapped bogus case against his innocent son."
She alleged, "Before the incident, both families knew each other and planned to marry them. But owing to some reasons, Sayed refused to marry her," she claimed.
"The girl's family was pressing our family to marry Sayed to their girl. But following the refusal, her parents decided to take revenge," she told the SSP.
Rashida informed the SSP that after registration of the case against her son, the girl's family had demanded a hefty sum of money from them to reach a compromise and to withdraw the rape case against her son.
"They demanded that the house be registered in the name of the girl and that she be paid Rs. 4,000 per month in future," she alleged.
SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar said SP (Detective) Paramjit Singh Goraya had been assigned a detailed inquiry into the matter.
"It seems a case of the marriage proposal having been broken. The allegations from both sides will be looked into and strict action will be taken against the guilty," the SSP said.
The girl's family refuted the allegations of Sayed's mother. "There was nothing like what Rashida briefed the SSP. We are ready for any inquiry as the accused's mother is saying all this to weaken the case and save her son," said the girl's father.
