As many as 25 students had a miraculous escape on Monday, when a speeding SUV rammed into a school bus.

Twenty students have sustained minor injuries and have been discharged from a private hospital, where they were rushed from the accident site for first aid.

The speeding SUV hit the bus so fiercely that the bus overturned. No major injury has been reported. The bus was on its way to Kaintal School, when the accident took place at Chaura Road.

As the accident occurred outside the truck union, the truck drivers and passersby immediately rescued the children and informed police.

A case of negligent driving has been registered against the SUV driver, who fled away from the spot. ASI Kuldeep Singh said, "We will trace the driver through the record of the district transport office."
