NIC to launch website of vidhan sabha

After a long wait, people of Punjab will soon be able to access the details of the working of their legislators inside the state assembly as the new official website of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha is all set for launch.

The all new official website of the state assembly, punjabassembly.nic.in   is all set for the launch with a new look and more information. 

Under a national campaign to boost the e-governance, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the union government has re-constructed the websites of all legislative assemblies of all the states.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Shashi Lakhan Pal Mishra, deputy secretary-cum-secretary to the Punjab assembly said: "The NIC has re-constructed the website of all legislative assemblies of the state and the new website of Punjab state assembly will be launched soon."

"We have provided all the required data and now the project is under observation and the websites are being tested," she added.

All websites will be interlinked with a software and it will also have directs links to the parliament of India and all other legislative bodies of the country.

About the delay in launch she said:"The process got delayed due to Lok Sabha elections. The work will be given a push now as the new government has taken over".

According to sources, the new website will be operated and maintained by the NIC. It will also have several features including the details of proceedings of  the house, profiles of the members, vidhan sabha committees, amenities to the members, questions raised in the assembly besides, history and brief of proceedings of the house.  It will also reveal its online visitors about the details of debates on the bills passed on the floor of the house.

The new website will be designed, developed and maintained by NIC from Delhi and the state legislative assembly will update the NIC details of every session of the assembly.
