Parents of a youth who was killed in a mishap two years ago have been awarded compensation of Rs. 3.52 lakh by a motor accident claim tribunal.

The tribunal also directed the truck driver Balwinder Singh and truck owner Gurlal Singh to pay this amount jointly with 8% per annum interest from the date of filing the claim.

The amount will be equally shared by the deceased's parents, Rma Shanker Shukla (46) and his wife Rarmeshwari (43), who had filed a case for compensation.

As per the couple, their unmarried son, who was working as a vegetable and fruit seller and was earning Rs. 15,000 per month was killed in a mishap on November 20, 2011 when his  bicycle was hit by truck driver Balwinder Singh.

A case was registered on the statement of an eye witness Shiv Kumar against the truck driver. The truck driver and the owner in their reply denied allegations and claimed no accident took place.
