The Patiala excise and taxation department is expected to generate 235 crore in 2014-15 through the allotment of 684 vends of liquor, the draw of lot for which were carried out on Saturday.
The expected collection is nearly 27% higher than the last fiscal collection of 185 crore. Assistant excise and taxation officer Lajpal Singh Jhakar said the draw of lot was held to allot 433 vends of country made liquor and 251 of Indian Made foreign liquor. He said that a total of 2,986 applications were received and the department earned 13.46 crore as application fee.
Sangrur vends auctioned AT 221.31cr
In Sangrur, the income from the allotments of vends went up by 27% with the collection of 221.31 crore.
The auction of a total of 716 vends - 464 of Punjab-made liquor (PML) and 252 of countrymade foreign liquor (IMFL) vends for the year 2014-15 - carried out through draw of lots in presence of Sangur ADC Pritam Singh Johal, additional excise and taxation commissioner Surinder Kaur Riara and assistant excise and taxation commissioner Pawan Garag.
Talking to Hindustan Times, excise inspector Manoj Kumar said: “A hike of 26.73% has been registered in the revenue, which this year reached to 221.31 crore from 174 crore last year despite number of liquor vends has been reduced to 716 from 719.”
He said 3.84 crore had been earned from the application fee.
However, when asked about the auction of four liquor vends located on NH 64 against the direction of the Punjab and Haryana high court, he said the auction was done for all liquor vends, but the decision about shifting of vends like one near Shivam Hotel; Uchi Puli; Patiala By-pass; Haripura road; and in shops near Bhagat Singh Chowk on NH 64 will be taken later on.
Fatehgarh Sahib raise 106.2cr from allotment of liquor vends
Fathegarh Sahib: The draw of lots for allotment of liquor vends for 2014-15 in the district was held at Sohan Farms here on Saturday.
The draw of lots took place in presence of deputy commissioner Arun Sekhri and assistant excise and taxation commissioner (flying squad) Randhir Kaur.
As many as 136 country-made liquor vends and 88 Indian-made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) vends were allotted in the district.
Assistant excise ad taxation commissioner Mangnesh Sethi told reporters that a total of 14 draw of lots were held against 1,293 applications received for liquor vends.
“The department has generate a revenue of 106.2 crore from the allotment of liquor vends as against the previous year’s 85.22 crore. The total revenue generated exceed by 24% this year as compared to the last year,” he added.
