'Patiala Virasat de Rang' released

Former chairman of the Minority Commission, Tarlochan Singh along with Punjabi University vice- chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh on Monday released a book titled "Patiala Virasat de Rang."
Written by former public relation officer Ujagar Singh, the book has brief history and biographies of 52 famous personalities including politicians, artists, historians, army men, writers, players and other prominent personalities, who hailed from royal City.
Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Sant Harchand Singh Longowal, Captain Amarinder Singh, Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra, Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha, Sardara Singh Kohli and cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu,  Dilip Kaur Tiwana, Dr Vishaw Nath Tiwari, are amongst the 52 personalities, whom the writer has given a space in his book.


Lauding the effort, vice- chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh said that it was a unique way to present the history of city through the biographies of personalities, who hailed from the royal city.

Speaking on the occasion, Ujagar Singh said that during his long stint of above 30 years as government PR official he had got a chance to met different sections of people and personalities.

Muslims protest illegal control of graveyard land

Hundreds of Muslims, on Wednesday, held a protest with the body of deceased Pritam Khan, alleging that they didn't have land for the graveyard in Kakran village of Bhawanigarh sub-division of the district as the graveyard land had been illegally occupied by some people.
