Police on Sunday arrested three persons after a pistol and three live cartridges were allegedly seized from them. One person was later arrested on charge of giving the pistol to one of those held earlier on.
Local police had laid a naka near Shamsher Nager in Sirhind, where a car coming from Modhopur Chowk was signaled to stop. The driver sped away, after which police chase the vehicle and arrested three persons travelling in it.
The arrested were identified as Jagdish Singh of Hondla Kalan village of Mansa district, Amandeep Singh of Manakmajra village of SAS Nagar and Varinder Singh of Bhima village of Sirsa in Haryana.
A pistol and cartridge were seized from Amandeep, while two cartridges were seized from Varinder.
The police also seized four mobiles phones from them. Amandeep told police that he had taken the pistol from Navjot Singh of Batela village near Chandigarh. Police later also arrested Navjot and seized two mobile phones from him.
A case under various sections of the IPC and Arms Act has been registered.
