Punjabi University's Centre for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS) will organise the first-of-its-kind international South Asian Short Film Festival and Competition here on July 31.
The festival-cum-competition is organised in collaboration with the World Punjabi Centre as part of the inaugural South Asian Punjabi Conference.
CAMS director Gurmeet Maan said the competition would be held in four categories -- fiction, non-fiction, docu-drama and documentary -- not exceeding 12 minutes.
He said the aspirants could send their entries till July 28 following which the films would be previewed to check various mandatory details by a preview committee before their final screening.
"The jury will judge, evaluate, grade and rank the films for awards," Maan added.
Fourteen south-Asian countries, including Nepal, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Bhutan, Myanmar, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Thailand, Singapore and India, will present their papers.
Delegates from European and American countries will also participate in the event to draw out a broad comparative perspective on the status of Punjabis around the world.
