KD Chaudhri, chairman-cum-managing director, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited on Sunday informed that on the persistent demand of farmers who had availed tubewell power connections under the  scheme, the PSPCL had decided to replace burnt/stolen transformers at its own cost.

He said that farmers were facing difficulty in replacing transformers and this issue was raised by various kisan unions during their meetings with the PSPCL management recently.

Finding their demand as genuine, the PSPCL management decided that cases where OYT transformers were damaged or stolen, would be replaced at the PSPCL’s cost.

Chaudhri said that in another relief to farmers, the PSPCL had decided to augment transformers installed under the OYT scheme at PSPCL’s cost, for the farmers who opt for it under the voluntary disclosure scheme (VDS) which had been extended up to July 31 and no penalty would be imposed on consumers who opt for the VDS up to this date.

The CMD appealed to farmers to declare their accurate load of motors and opt for VDS which would help the PSPCL to augment distribution system and transformers accordingly and ensure eight-hour uninterrupted power supply to them.
