Burying the hatchet, the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party leadership on Sunday put up a united show to kickstart the poll campaign of Deepinder Singh Dhillon.

Unlike the past three elections, the SAD-BJP leadership has put up a united face, which may worry the rival camp of Congress MP Preneet Kaur.

SAD in the last three elections had failed to put up a united show because of rivalry between various groups within the party.

In urban areas, the Kohli and Bajaj family has long history of rivalry within the party, while in the rural areas, Prem Singh Chandumajra-led group has always locked horns with late Captain Kanwaljit Singh and now they are up against the cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra's group.

However, following the hard talk of the deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal, who has termed Dhillon as his "personal choice", all the splinters groups on Sunday fell in line and put up a united show to kickstart the election campaign with the inauguration of main election office in Urban Estate.

Cabinet minister Surjit Singh Rakhra, along with brother Charanjit Singh Rakhra, a ticket contender, were also present.

Rakhra inaugurated the camp office and said that after defeating Raninder Singh and the Congress in the assembly elections, the SAD once again would trounce the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. "Preneet will face a similar fate like Raninder, who has set the ball
rolling for the series of defeat of the royal family", said Rakhra.

Rakhra said that the royal family would lose poll battle once again as the performance of the local MP for the last 15 years had remained a big zero.

On the other hand, the  SAD-BJP combine has done a lot for the constituency during the last seven years,he claimed.

Speaking on the occasion, Deepinder Singh Dhillon said that this time the constituency would witness a battle between democracy and monarchy.

Lashing out his old time political guru Preneet Kaur, Deepinder said 'development' would be his main poll.

"The local MP has failed to bring even a single project for the constituency although the UPA government was in power during last 10 years. She is an MP for the last 15 years but she can't list a single achievement for the constituency. She is befooling people by laying some foundation stones of projects", he told voters.

Senior leaders, including NK Sharma, chief parliamentary secretary, Harpreet Kaur and Vaninder Kaur Loomba, both MLAs, Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, former minister Amarinder Singh Bajaj, mayor, and all SGPC members of Patiala were also present.
