The State Bank of Patiala on Sunday organised a `Grand Run' marathon to raise awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse.

Deputy commissioner Varun Roojam and SBoP managing director (MD) SA Ramesh Rangan flagged off the marathon which included three categories - 2 kms, 5 kms and 10 kms. Over 2000 persons participated in the event.

The DC appreciated the bank's initiative in the fight against drug abuse. Following the marathon, the bank also organised a tree-plantation drive as part of its corporate social responsibility.
On the occasion, the bank also honoured senior superintendent of police Hardial Singh Mann for his work against drug abuse.

MD said that the bank was committed towards creating a better society. "The run against drug abuse is a step in that direction," he said.
A cultural programme was also held where staff members of SBoP participated and school students performed Giddha.
